Frederick L. Canby, DDS, MS
Dr. Frederick Canby grew up in the Washington DC area, graduating in 1979 from Winston Churchill HS in Potomac, MD. He completed his Bachelors in Biology in 1984 from Colby College, Waterville, ME. Studies at the Phillips University, Marburg, West-Germany rounded out his education.
He attended Georgetown University School of Dentistry, Washington DC, earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1988. Upon graduation he reported to the US Navy Dental Center Long Beach, Long Beach CA for two years as a General Dentist. From 1990-1992, assigned to USS MISSOURI (BB63), he assumed the Dental Department Division and Department Head duties. He is Veteran of the Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He returned to Navy Dental Center Long Beach for another two years. From 1994-1996 he attended the Advanced Program in Endodontics at Northwestern University Dental School, Chicago, IL earning a Masters in Science and Certificate in Endodontics.
Returning to the DC metropolitan area in late 1996, he founded Loudoun Endodontics at its present location in 1997. He is grateful to provide Endodontic specialty care to patients of Northern Virginia, the panhandle of West Virginia and areas of Maryland. Loudoun Endodontics is the Legacy practice in the County. After twenty-five years approximately 28,000 patients have passed through the doors.
While operating Loudoun Endodontics as a full-time practice, Dr. Canby also maintained his Commission in the US Navy Reserve. Attaining the rank of CAPTAIN, he was the Commanding Officer of the 4th Dental Battalion, Marietta, GA. He completed his final tour of duty on the Medical Staff, Headquarters 3rd Fleet, Point Loma, CA. After thirty-four years of Naval service, he retired in Sept 2019.
Dr. Canby resides in Round Hill, VA. His wife is a regulatory Pharmacist at the Veterans Administration, Martinsburg, WV. His daughter is a Dental Student at California Northstate University, College of Dental Medicine, Sacramento, CA. His son is a Law Student at the University of Richmond, School of Law, Richmond, VA., and a US Army reservist.
